Crash teen bike rider flown to hospital

A MONKEY bike rider was seriously injured in a collision this afternoon (Thursday) and his companion fled the scene.
Police are investigating the crash at the service lane near James Street in Pakenham about 2.30pm.
It is believed two teenage boys were riding on an illegal off-road monkey bike when they collided with a ute.
One of the boys was seriously injured in the collision and the other rider fled the scene.
The injured rider was flown by air ambulance to the The Alfred hospital with serious leg and head injuries.
The driver of the ute was visibly shaken and distressed at the scene.
Police believe the riders were not wearing safety gear or helmets.
