A TOUGH slog befell Pakenham Soccer Club in its pre-season practice match on Sunday, downed 1-4 against Monash.
Nothing went well for Pakenham on a blustery, hot day at Lakeside Oval, with starting goalkeeper Jarrod Reynolds dislocated his finger early before Monash got ahead on the scoreboard. Reynolds will miss the Football Chaos Cup this weekend – as he requires surgery and will miss four-to-six weeks.
It left Pakenham’s striker/midfielder captain Keegan Bloomfield to don the blue shirt and take the gloves, with Bloomfield holding his own out of his natural position.
Alex Herrera slotted a goal for the Cougars to deny Monash the clean sheet.
It was Pakenham’s last hit out before the Football Chaos Cup, held at Monash Soccer Club this Saturday. In the round robin stage, Pakenham has drawn Barnstoneworth Utd, Bayswater Strikers and Croydon Ranges.
In the other division, Bunyip Strikers will face Berwick Regional Churches, Monash and Warragul United.
Kick off for the first match is 10am, Monash Reserve, Newborough (near Moe).
