A KOOWEERUP man is on a mad search to find the owner of three war medals.
Phillip Jones has had three medals from World War II at his house for the past month and wants to return them to their owner or the family.
“I want to find the person if they’re still living and pass them on,” he said.
The medals are engraved with the initials G E Hendy and have the number VX57063.
A search with the Prisoner of War Association revealed the solider had been a prisoner of war.
Mr Jones said the medals were a Pacific Star, a War Medal 1939-1945 and a 1939-45 Star.
He said his mother gave him the medals after she found them when she was unpacking boxes at her house and had no idea how she ended up with them.
The Australian War Memorial site revealed the soldier was a private in the 2/2 Pioneer Battalion.
Mr Jones said he was contacted by a relative of the owner weeks ago but has not heard back since.
