Member for Gembrook Brad Battin has hit out at East West Link protestors on social media who allegedly “pushed and shoved” his wife outside a Liberal Party event last night.
Several prominent Melbourne journalists tweeted this morning about the altercation with one News Limited journalist reporting that his wife was “intimidated and in tears after she was cornered by EWL protestors” and he had been trolled on social media.
An ABC journalist tweeted Mr Battin’s wife had been “backed into a corner” and was “distressed by violent and intimidatory behaviour of protestors”.
Mr Battin tweeted last night: “Disgraceful behavior #EWLink protesters who thought it ok to push my wife”.
“Shame, you are free to protest as I am free to support the Link”.
The Pakenham Gazette has requested a comment from Mr Battin’s office.
