ONE of Cardinia Shire’s best young auctioneers will battle it out with nine of his contemporaries to hopefully sell his way to Canada.
Jamie Quinlin, who works at Elders in Pakenham, will take part in the 2014 Australian Livestock and Property Agents Victorian Young Auctioneers Competition on Monday 22 September at the Victorian Livestock Exchange in Pakenham.
Quinlin made the cut after the opening round in Bendigo earlier this year, which cut the state’s best auctioneers under the age of 25 down to just 10.
The top two places at the Pakenham event will then progress to the Sydney show in Easter, with the eventual winner booking a place at the Calgary Stampede in June next year.
Event organiser Anthony Delaney said the three judges would be looking for clarity, diction, knowledge of conducting a sale, general control of an auction and overall presentation, as they oversee three sales of cattle.
“It’s his second time at the event, he didn’t place last year, but he did really well,” he said.
“We’re expecting a good crowd.
“These are the best young auctioneers in the state.”
The competition starts at 11.30am.
