AN ASPIRING model from Officer is set to represent the nation in a televised beauty pageant in China next month.
Jada Casey is just waiting for the call to jet-off for the Miss Bikini Universe 2015.
“I was meant to be in China now competing, but because of the election and protesters, it’s too dangerous to send us over,” she says.
“So basically, I’m waiting by the phone for them to call me and tell me I’m leaving which should be the end of this month, hopefully.”
The 20-year-old says her attitude to life (“I’m very friendly to everyone and believe I hold myself well”) will hold her in good stead.
“I’m always smiling and am very approachable,” she says.
“You must push through rejection (in the industry), anything is possible if you set your mind to it.”
To win, she’ll have to sing, walk the catwalk in a variety of outfits – bikinis, cocktail dresses, ball gowns and a costume which represents Australia – answer questions on stage and generally carry herself well.
A promotional model and brand ambassador for the past two years, Jada regularly travels interstate for work.
But a strong placing at a Sydney pageant in July, where 12 girls from across the country were chosen for various campaigns, led to the overseas opportunity.
While she didn’t win, judges saw something in her they wanted.
“I decided to challenge myself for something greater and it turned out to have paid off,” she says.
“I received a phone call two weeks later and got told the good news that I will be representing Australia in China.
“This pageant involves 50 countries from all over the world.”
Jada says she eats energising food – heaps of fruit, smoothies and vegetables, kangaroo steak instead of regular meat – and does Bikram Yoga and horse riding to keep in shape.
“It’s easy maintaining an active life once you’ve started,” she says.
“I walk Lysterfield lake and do 1000 Steps. I try to do as much exercise as I can without spending too much money on gyms. I like being outdoors and enjoy the nature.
Jada hopes to one day start up her own clothing line.
“I have big dreams for the future. I believe that hard work and dedication pays off, just keep smiling, keep trying and never let anything hold you back, be the best you can be,” she says.
“I believe I am a good role model for the younger generation and was chosen for this competition not only for my presentation but for the person I am.”
Jada is still looking for sponsors for the trip so contact her on 0432 678 841 or jada.case@hotmail.com
