THE Kooweerup Regional Health Services is preparing to put on their annual ‘Music on the Grass’ festival in conjunction with the local Men’s shed, churches and Scout groups.
Best of all, it’s free.
What started as a local arts festival six years ago slowly evolved into the annual music event. Now it showcases some of the talented students and community members of Kooweerup and surrounding areas.
Kooweerup Regional Health Services member Brian Harlow estimates that around 300 people have attended the event since it began, and says it makes for a great day out.
“It’s been really good the last couple of years, everyone’s really enjoyed it. The theme is an old-style country fair that the family can come along and enjoy without spending a lot of money,” he said.
As well as the music, there is a market, stocked with hand-made goods and home- grown produce. The Men’s shed sell produce donated by local farmers as their largest annual fund-raiser and the district nurses are on hand to serve tea, coffee and a barbecue.
Being a family event, there is plenty of entertainment for the children with a jumping castle, face painting and displays by the local Scouts.
The festival will run from 12.30pm until 4.30pm on Sunday 16 November at the Kooweerup Community Gardens.
