VICTORIAN SUB DISTRICT CRICKET ASSOCIATION – South East 1st XI Round 10 (day 1)

IN A tentative battle for one of the six finals’ spots, sixth-place Endeavour Hills has a whopper of a chase this weekend after Malvern (8/256) posted a monster tally. Malvern’s Mike Jones (73) took the Eagles to all parts along with Leigh Alford (56) and Nick Gill (44 not out) while Richard Saniga (3/45), captain Chris Pereira (2/48) and Vaughan Baxter (2/58) all toiled in the conditions to restrict the visitors.

Pakenham Upper/Toomuc (9/57) was set a little too much by Bayswater Park (5/163cc) as the Yabbies failed to fire.
Despite an economical spell from Vicki Downes (2/17), the rest of the Yabbies’ bowling order could not find the same energy or wicket-taking ability as the visitors pounded the whopping tally from its 38 overs.
In reply, Pakenham Upper/Toomuc’s batting mirrored its bowling. Downes (15) top scored at the top of the order alongside captain Patricia Garth (10) but once the duo fell it was all downhill from there as the Yabbies slumped to 9/57 off their allotted overs.
Bayswater Park’s Penny Harford (8/7) terrorised the opposition to claim the eight-wicket haul – including five maidens – from her 10 overs.
Pakenham Upper/Toomuc faces Mt Martha at Ferrero Reserve next Sunday after a bye this week.
