Second man charged over Bayles death

A SECOND man has been charged with murder of Bayles man Raymond Parker in January.
Matong man Daniel O’Donnel, 49, appeared in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 27 February after he was arrested by Homicide Squad detectives two days earlier at a house in Matong, New South Wales.
He will face a committal mention on 15 June at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.
It comes after Officer man Dean Brooks was charged with one count of murder of Mr Parker on Sunday 22 February.
The 23-year-old will also face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court for a committal mention on 15 June.
Mr Parker’s body was found by a friend inside his Kooweerup-Longwarry Road home at about 2.20pm on 13 January.
The charges come after police revealed in late January that two men may hold vital clues to the death of the 75-year-old retired butcher, who lived alone at the property.
A small hydroponic cannabis set-up was found by police at the double-storey property which they said had been ransacked.
Police said Mr Parker’s wallet, credit cards and cash, along with a number of other yet to be identified items, were missing.
They said the credit cards were used to purchase and attempt to purchase items from two service stations in Narre Warren and Pakenham between 10 January and 12 January.
Two men were seen together at the service stations, each time with a white van.
Police released CCTV images of one of two men at a service station who they said may be able to help with their inquiries.
Mr Parker’s worried son, who lives interstate, had asked a friend to check on Mr Parker, when his body was found.
