CARA Lukas from Berwick won the Rural Iron Woman competition with some quick thinking and a clarification of the rule book.
With only two young ladies in the race for the Iron Woman title for 2015 and $150 in prize money Cara was well behind her opponent for the entire race.
She said climbing the 2.8 metres high wall that the dogs had scaled earlier was the hardest part.
“It was quite daunting running at a solid wall that’s so high,” she said.
The on-the-ball competitor sneakily won the race at the last turn by putting the hay on top of the chaff bag in her wheel barrow instead of coming back for it.
This move, according to Peter Deering on the microphone, was all above board and won her the sash and title as her opponent was still on her way back for the hay.
Cara had planned to attend the show for one reason and that was to win the Iron Woman challenge.
“This is my first time competing, I saw it a couple of years ago and thought I’d enter, it was the sole purpose of the venture here today,” she said.
Cara said she’ll be back next year to give it another go.
