A REPORT aimed at ensuring the sustainability and success of volunteer agencies was launched in Berwick last week.
MP for Gembrook Brad Battin launched ‘Volunteers in the Community’ with Berwick Woodworker’s Club at Monash University last Tuesday evening.
Mr Battin said the report addressed the future of volunteers in the area.
“The ‘Volunteers in the Community’ report highlighted not only the importance of volunteers in our local community but how volunteers themselves greatly benefit from their service,” he said.
“The report highlighted numerous benefits the Berwick Woodworker’s Club provides for retirees who are able to collectively enjoy their interest in woodworking, while supporting local charities through their involvement in community events and the distribution of wooden toys.”
The project was conducted in collaboration with a number of target groups, including parliamentarians, council and community interest groups as well as six occupational therapy students at Monash University.
