Police called to domestic attack

A WOMAN was hit in the face with a hammer before she stabbed her assailant with a knife in a violent domestic incident in Pakenham.Police said that about 8.40am on Monday 29 June, a 45-year-old man struck his wife’s cheekbone with a hammer after a verbal argument in Lorraine Court, Pakenham.
The 44-year-old woman then grabbed a knife and allegedly stabbed him in the neck and wrists.
When emergency services arrived, the woman refused medical assistance.
Police, who took the man in for questioning over the incident, could not confirm the extent of injuries suffered by each party but believed neither the man or woman were hospitalised.
Police believe there were no children at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
