A GROUP of volunteers working tirelessly at organisations throughout the Cardinia Shire have been recognised for their efforts at a state-wide awards ceremony.
On Tuesday 21 July, a team of 21 local volunteers were announced as finalists in the 2015 Victorian Disability Sector awards.
The group are volunteers with Outlook, a Pakenham-based social enterprise supporting people with a disability.
Volunteers within the nominated group included nursery assistant Jason, op-shop administration worker Michelle, workshop presenter Penny and Uniting Church volunteer Alison.
Weekly volunteer Alex Koster said his involvement was beneficial both to himself and the organisation.
“Volunteering has enabled me to expand my skills in IT support and database development,” he said.
“It’s nice to have some acknowledgment and share ideas with others.”
The Victorian Disability Sector Awards took place at Federation Square and aim to celebrate individuals and organisations who assist people with a disability in achieving their goals.
