NARRE Warren coach Chris Toner is free to lead the Magpies for the remainder of the 2015 South East Football Netball League season after receiving a $2,000 fine at an AFL South East independent tribunal hearing tonight (Wednesday).
Toner pleaded guilty to his charge, relating to an after match melee between Narre Warren and Cranbourne, which took place at the conclusion of the round 11 clash between the two clubs at Kalora Park on Saturday 4 July.
Narre Warren player Kain Baskaya, a spectator on the day, was reprimanded and fined $750.00.
The two findings follow a busy night at the tribunal on Tuesday, where Cranbourne president Shane Baker and players Marc Holt and Troy Tharle were reprimanded and fined $500.00, with Eagles’ forward Michael Theodoridis receiving a reprimand only.
Narre Warren players Hayden Stagg and Matt Lee were also reprimanded, while young ruckman Jordyn Flannery was fined $500.00 and also received a reprimand.
The final wash up, after a long and thorough three-week investigation by SEFNL, is that not one player or official will miss a week of football.
But the league’s coffers have been boosted by $4,750.00 in what has proven to be a valuable money-making exercise.
The charges brought against the players and officials from both clubs include intentionally striking, attempted striking, engaging in a melee, instigating a melee and wrestling.
