WHEN a child is involved in a trauma – be it a collision, house fire or other unpleasant incident – it often helps for them to be able to hold onto something for comfort.
And thanks to a local Lions Club, Cardinia Highway Patrol has just the gift that may dry up their tears.
The Cranbourne Lions Club donated 10 ‘trauma teddies’ to the road patrol group on Thursday 3 September in an effort to help kids in despair.
Sitting snug in the back of officers’ cars, these bright and soft teddies are a first-time donation to Cardinia Highway Patrol.
Having already helped kids that required emergency assistance by the State Emergency Service (SES), Ambulance Victoria and Casey Hospital’s Children’s Ward, Lions Club District Governor and Cranbourne member Ian Gration hopes the donation will make a difference to kids in crisis.
“They help the kids calm down … it’s surprising how kids will stop crying once they have something to hold onto. It changes their perspective on things,” he said.
