Girl clipped by car in horror day on the roads

A LITTLE girl was hit by a car hours after a two-car crash fatally injured a separate driver – on the same Pakenham intersection – last week.
It was one of three serious accidents in Pakenham that day, each requiring medical attention.
About 7.40pm on Thursday 1 October, a seven-year-old girl was hit by a car at the corner of Cunningham Crescent and McGregor Road.
Police believe the girl, who was with her grandmother at the time, walked out onto the road without seeing the oncoming vehicle.
The girl was taken to Dandenong Hospital with minor injuries.
The incident came less than five hours after two cars collided head on at the intersection.
A woman aged in her thirties was airlifted to The Alfred hospital with life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash which left her trapped in her car for more than an hour.
The woman died in hospital later that night.
Another man aged in his twenties was taken to hospital with serious injuries after becoming wedged underneath an inbound train at Pakenham station about 4pm that day.
The man was attempting to outrace the train on his pushbike but fell after being clipped by the moving train.
