BRIAN Paynter MP has been forced to go without knick-knacks to brighten up his home due to Friday’s Grand Final Eve public holiday.
In a video posted on his Facebook page on Friday, the Liberal Member for Bass can be seen wandering up and down the main street of Wonthaggi to highlight the “shocking decision” of Premier Daniel Andrews who declared this holiday.
At each stop, he highlights what Wonthaggi shoppers are missing out on, ranging from meat and freshly squeezed juice to clothing, bike servicing and knick-knacks.
Mr Paynter, who has posted a number of other videos about the issue on his page, is on a crusade against the public holiday.
Most feature him in conversation with a business owner or an employee, giving insight into the potential damage to the company.
Earlier last week, Mr Paynter posted a video of himself and daughter Abbey, who revealed that losing out on a shift of works meant she was not be able to pay her dad for her car this month.
The video has been seen more than 24,000 times on Facebook and received mixed responses from viewers, many commenting that perhaps Abbey should learn to budget.
Right or wrong, Brian gets the credit: it’s been entertaining. Here’s hoping he can keep up the good work, come grand final time next year.
