THE finest local lavender will proudly be exhibited at an annual travelling craft show later this month.
Nar Nar Goon’s Serendipity Lavender Farm will sell products and host workshops at The Stitches and Craft Show, held at Caulfield Racecourse.
Sally Heeps, Berwick resident and owner of Serendipity, said people were drawn to the therapeutic benefits of lavender.
“It’s a natural relaxant and it’s excellent for assisting with sleep and relieving stress and tension,” she said.
“Lavender is also used for its antibacterial properties, to cleanse the skin and often as an insect repellent.”
Sally will host daily workshops allowing guests the opportunity to make their own lavender sleep bear, taking advantage of the flower’s relaxing properties.
She’ll also be selling an array of best-selling products including moisturiser, muscle rub, pulse point oil, toiletries heat packs and soft toys.
The Stitches and Craft Show is one of the country’s biggest events of its kind, and aims to showcase creativity and provide inspiration.
Guest artist at this year’s show include Phil Ferguson, famous worldwide for his crocheted food hats, and acclaimed quiller Christine Donehue.
An impressive list of exhibits is shaping, however highlights are sure to include the Cake Decorators Association of Victoria decorating competition and a fantastic range of ‘make and take’ workshops. Visitors to the show will have the chance to learn jewellery making, quilting, sewing, scrapbooking, card making and of course, teddy bear making.
Those wishing to take part in Sally’s sleep bear workshop should book in advance by phoning 0418 139 030. Cost is $30, and workshops will begin at noon each day of the show.
The Stitches and Craft show will be held from 22-25 October at Caulfield Racecourse. Doors will open daily from 10am-4.30pm and tickets are available from www.craftevents.com.au or at the door.
