A LOCAL Year 7 student has taken out sixth place at a major equestrian competition, despite being the youngest competitor in the field.
Tynong North rider Sophie Bennett recently represented St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School and Victoria at the Australian Interschool Equestrian Championships, held at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre.
She competed against riders up to 18 years of age to be awarded sixth place overall.
Sophie is a member of the Elite Sports Performers program at St Paul’s, allowing her access to additional support and resources including guidance from several guest speakers from the Victorian Institute of Sport.
The National Interschool Championships are a competition involving more than 2000 school based competitors aged 5-18 years old. This year the event was held from 28 September to 3 October.
