A PAKENHAM health care provider is asking clients to pay for their treatment in non-perishable food items as part of an upcoming charity day for a local crisis support centre.
True Potential Chiropractic in Pakenham will waive the cost of services on Wednesday 23 December, instead asking clients to bring food items to the value of their consultation.
The goods will be donated to 4Cs in Pakenham – an annual donation drive held by the provider in support of disadvantaged members of the community.
Dr Renee O’Connor, who operates at the practice, said they would also accept donations of non-perishable food items throughout December to help make up the charity group’s Christmas hamper give-aways.
“We wanted to extend the donation drive throughout the month of December so that all of our client base can be involved rather than just those attending the clinic on the charity day,” she said.
“We have found in the past that these items are used to replenish stores after the Christmas rush and thus we request that they are not Christmas themed.”
The 4Cs has announced it will have to cut back significantly on Christmas hamper distribution this year – from 1000 free hampers to 500.
The Pakenham chiropractor business will also take donations at its family Christmas party on Saturday 5 December. The event, held from 2pm until 4pm, will include an animal farm, face painting and a balloon artist for littlies.
To register for a Christmas hamper, see the 4Cs volunteers in Pakenham. Registrations close on Saturday 12 December.
