A CARDINIA Shire building surveyor is assessing damage to a house and carport in Smethurst Avenue after a fire this morning.
The CFA was called to the blaze about 6.50am.
The fire damaged a house and a neighbouring carport.
Eight CFA trucks were dispatched to the scene and fire-fighters eventually brought the blaze under control.
