A TRIP to the vet is something pets appear to normally dread.
But not this 12-year-old Himalayan cross Persian cat.
Toblerone, the well-loved cat from Berwick, had the time of his life during a week-long stay at the vets some time ago, according to his owner Ebby George.
“A few years ago, he was staying at the vet for a week or so and all the vet nurses fell in love with him; some of them spending their lunch breaks buying him some KFC chicken which, of course, he isn’t going to say no to,” she laughed.
Ebby said her fluffy companion’s love for food was insatiable.
“He loves food way too much, he knows when somebody is in the kitchen all the time,” she said.
Toblerone, affectionately known as a ‘Grumpy old man’, still has a young, playful streak – sometimes wildly running around the house making “weird” purring sounds.
Ebby said she adopted Toblerone through a family friend.
The original owner loved the chocolate Toblerone just as much as Ebby now loves her cat.
But Ebby said she spread the love around.
She has two more cats named Minnie and Juno along with a dog named Mojo.
Ebby said they didn’t mind each other – even their goldfish.
“They get on surprisingly well actually. They all do their own thing and the cats don’t even care about the fish!”
