Do it for the kids

Pakenham Gazette journo Kathryn Bermingham scooped up a bargain on the job.

SHE can snoop out a story, and boy can she scoop up a bargain!
The Gazette’s very own journalist Kathryn Bermingham did not expect to be lugging home a kayak when she went on work on Thursday 4 February.
But that is exactly what she did.
Evergreen Retirement Village hosted an auction in support of Southern Cross Kids Camps – an organisation that takes abused kids out on camping trips and bonding activities.
It was hard for the young journo to hold her back on the bargain items auctioned off during the midday fund-raiser.
She eventually caved, scooping up a $100 bargain – a new kayak valued at five times the bid.
Good job helping the kids, Kathryn!
