A MAN whose Pakenham business is centred around repairing cars was caught out driving his own recklessly, and with a suspended licence.
The 24-year-old mechanic, who owns a business in one of the town’s industrial areas, was issued with a community corrections order in relation to several driving infringement charges heard at the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on Friday 29 January.
The charges related to a series of offences which occurred in 2014, including driving on a suspended licence and driving recklessly.
The court heard the man was caught performing a burnout in front of police in an unmarked car at the Kooweerup Road-Pakenham roundabout in early 2014.
He then went on to fishtail his car down the freeway, before being intercepted a short time later by police.
Other incidents included driving with an unrestrained passenger and operating an unregistered vehicle.
The 24-year-old, identified as a former drug user, was warned of the impacts dangerous driving could have on the community.
“If you leave the roadway, you could hit a pedestrian and that pedestrian could be killed,“ the magistrate said.
However, the magistrate highlighted the man had since “turned around” his life, noting a significant gap since his last road offence in 2014.
He was issued with a 12-month community corrections order and 12-month good behaviour bond.
The magistrate made no suspensions to his licence.
