GENEROUS locals enjoyed morning tea and a charity auction for a special cause last week.
Evergreen Retirement Village opened its doors on Thursday 4 February to support Southern Cross Kids Camps, a charity which enables boys and girls from backgrounds of neglect and abuse to attend a five-day camp.
The event was organised by the staff of Evergreen along with Lloyd and Robyn Thomas, who have attended 17 Southern Cross Kids Camps to act as ‘grandpa’ and ‘grandma’ to the children.
Charity director Peter Lusk explained the benefits of camps and shared some of his personal experiences before a number of donated items were auctioned and guests enjoyed a morning tea prepared by volunteers.
Lloyd and Robyn said the event was a great success with more than $1500 raised for Southern Cross Kids Camps.
