ROSES are red, violets are blue. If you’re looking for love, come up to Cockatoo!
Singles searching for that special someone will meet this Saturday night for the first monthly Hills Singles night.
The gathering aims to help local singles meet each other in a friendly and relaxed environment.
Organiser Brett Barker, who is single, said the group was established to cater for high demand in the community.
“The main thing is just to get the singles mingling, there are so many people up here who feel like they have nowhere to go,” he said.
“The response so far has been excellent.”
Brett said he will be among four hosts who will run the night, making sure there are no “wallflowers” and that everyone is enjoying themselves.
This Saturday’s Valentine’s Eve meeting will also offer games, prizes, nibbles and eight-ball pool.
While Brett is encouraging singles to attend the monthly gathering, Brett hopes they won’t be attending too many.
“Our wish is that we get a lot of member that leave very quickly because they’ve found someone,” he said.
“By Valentine’s Day next year, hopefully, we’ll have a few couples that have come out of this.”
The Hills Singles Night will be held on Saturday 13 February from 7.30pm at the Cockatoo RSL.
Tickets are $10 each and inquiries should be directed to Brett on 0421 219 899.
