Buyers hold back

THERE were approximately 250 cows and 15 bulls penned representing a decrease of 80 head week-on-week at the Victorian Livestock Exchange this week.
There was a smaller field of buyers present but not all operating fully in a dearer market.
Quality was mixed with very few dairy cows and some very good heavy weight beef cows on offer.
Cow prices improved between two cents and 10 cents although competition did decline as the sale ran with the better heavy weight cows being the closest to firm.
Heavy weight bulls lifted 15 cents for a better quality run.
Most light and medium weight cows sold from 170 cents to 228 cents.
Heavy weight cows made mostly between 192 cents and 247 cents.
Heavy weight bulls sold between 241 cents and 279 cents.
The VLE Draw for the week commencing Monday 2 May is:
1, Rodwells; 2, Elders, 3, Everitt, Seeley and Bennetts; 4, Alex Scott and Staff; 5, Nathan Gibbon Livestock; 6, Landmark; 7, S.E.J.
The next store sale is on Thursday 5 May at 10am.
