THE Greens have drawn the top positions for both the McMillan and La Trobe ballot papers for the upcoming federal election, securing the support of any ‘donkey voters’ across the region by default.
Through a randomised selection process, The Greens’ Donna Lancaster was drawn as the first candidate listed for McMillan.
Ms Lancaster is followed by the Australian Christians Party’s Kathleen Ipsen, Norman Baker of the Rise Up Australia Party, Jennifer McAdam of the Animal Justice Party, Jim McDonald of the Liberal Democrats, Family First Party’s Nathan Harding and Chris Buckingham representing the Labor Party.
The long-time McMillan MP Russell Broadbent,\ was drawn as the last of eight candidates listed on the ballot to contest for the seat.
Meanwhile, Greens candidate Tom Cummings scored the top ballot position for his La Trobe electorate.
Leah Folloni from the Animal Justice Party was drawn as the next listed candidate, followed by the Justice Party’s Julieanne Lynette Doidge, Labor’s Simon Curtis and Leslie Hughes of the Liberal Democrats.
Rise Up Australia Party’s Margaret Quinn, the Liberal Party’s Jason Wood, David Fent of the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party, Martin Leahy of the Australian Sex Party and Family First Party’s Jeffrey Bartram respectively have been drawn for the latter half of the La Trobe ballot.
The Flinders ballot was headed by Rise Up Australia Party’s Yvonne Gentle, with independent candidate Shane W. Lewis drawing the next position.
Willisa Hogarth, representing The Greens, drew the third spot, followed by major party candidates Carolyn Gleixner and Greg Hunt, standing for the Labor and Liberal parties respectively.
Ben Wild of the Animal Justice Party drew the final position on the ballot for Flinders.
