THREE Cardinia-based schools have received a combined $2.6 million towards building projects to support their students.
St Francis Xavier College, St Clare’s Primary School and Lakeside College were among 18 non-government schools across the state to be granted funding to support classroom expansions.
Minister for Education James Merlino announced that St Francis Xavier would receive $2 million for 18 new classrooms while St Clare’s was awarded $1.5 million for eight new classrooms.
Lakeside College was also granted $1.1 million for the second phase of its junior school building development.
“The population in Cardinia is growing and our investment in these three schools will help ease enrolment pressures by providing more classrooms and a junior school building,” Mr Merlino said.
“One in three Victorian students attend Catholic and independent schools – they are a vital part of our education system and this funding will help provide better facilities to more Victorian students.”
Mr Merlino said the State Government was committed to building the education state to ensure all Victorians have access to a quality education.
Casey Grammar, Hillcrest Christian College and St Peter’s College were also among the schools granted project funding.
