Take care in the wet

THE Highway Patrol has urged drivers to take care on the roads following an increase in nose-to-tail crashes attended since the onset of wet weather this season.
One of the most recent nose-to-tail collisions saw peak-hour traffic banked back significantly on the Princes Freeway, according to Cardinia Highway Patrol Sergeant Allen Inderwisch who has urged motorists to use caution on wet roads.
“Be mindful and hang back from cars in front,” he said.
At 6.30pm on Sunday 17 July, traffic banked behind two cars involved in a nose-to-tail crash in the eastbound lane of the freeway in Beaconsfield.
He said the Monash Freeway and Princes Highway were a particular risk locally for distracted drivers failing to provide enough distance between vehicles.
