Spate of burglaries probed

A SAFE containing $2000 worth of jewellery was stolen from a Pakenham home in addition to six computer tablets last week.
A laptop and runners were also stolen from the Glenvista Road, Pakenham, home – one of several targeted in a series of burglaries under investigation.
Offenders tore down the flywire screen on a door at the back of the house before ransacking the home between 9am and 3pm on Friday 22 July.
Goods stolen in the brazen, daylight burglary totalled more than $13,000.
Laptops, an iPad and MacBook valued at $1000 were stolen within the same time frame from a home in Officer.
Offenders gained access to the Verve Drive home via an unlocked garage door, making off with the electronics while residents were away at work.
A Pakenham takeaway store also came away worse off during the week of burglaries.
Cash was stolen from the Princes Highway food premises which had been extensively rummaged through by offender/s.
Several expensive power tools were burgled from a home under construction overnight in Emerald between 6pm on Thursday 21 July and 5pm on Friday 22 July.
A circular saw, drop saw, hand drill and car fridge were among the tools stolen in the $1500 haul at the home on Gembrook-Belgrave Road.
They were stolen from inside the unlocked home and in a nearby tool shed.
Police said both were unlocked at the time of the incident.
