Stepping up for relay

ASHH Koltai-Leicester dedicates most of her spare time to supporting community events, programs and charities.
The 20-year-old from Cranbourne said helping others gives her a great feeling.
“I just like to pay it forward and support the community,” the former Cranbourne Secondary College student said.
Ashh is currently studying event management at Chisholm in Dandenong, which is a course that comes in handy when she organises fundraisers for her beloved Cranbourne Narre Relay For Life team.
“We recently raised more than $900 at a trivia night,” Ashh said. All the donations will go towards her grand total at the Relay event in November.
Fittingly named One Step at a Time, Ashh’s team of 10 plans on growing to a team of 20 by the next relay.
“I started Relay when I was 12 years old and I’d never been touched by cancer until this year when my partner’s mum was diagnosed with skin cancer,” Ashh said.
A former Girl Guide and army cadet, Assh attributes her start in Relay to her younger days but said it’s something she would have done anyway.
Last year the Cranbourne Narre Relay events raised $67,122 for the Cancer Council.
