A RARE football feat will be celebrated when the Nar Nar Goon Football Club toasts the 40th anniversary of the 1976 reserves premiership next month.
The team included the father and son combination of Les and Neil Fleming.
It was a classic grand final against arch rivals Pakenham, with the game still in the balance until the dying stages. Coming on as 19th man to join his son on the field, Les Fleming kicked a goal in the last quarter to put the Goon 10 points up.
The Pakenham side that day included a youngster named Peter Russo, who would go on to experience VFL premiership glory with Hawthorn.
It was a big year for the Goon, which also won the A and B grade netball premierships.
