NAR Nar Goon kindergarten was among 18 preschools in the Gippsland region to receive a State grant for IT or minor infrastructure funding.
The Nar Nar Goon preschool was awarded about $1400 that will enable them to purchase a new computer.
Early childhood teacher Linda English said the grant would fund a second desktop computer, two Microsoft and anti-virus packages.
“Our current system is slow and the operating software is not even supported anymore. It will make life a lot easier,” Ms English said.
“It will make such a difference to communication with families, administration processes and children’s use of the computer for research.
“We’re absolutely thrilled. To find that kind of money’s really hard for a kindergarten and when you’re fund-raising there are so many areas that need to be prioritised to decide where the money can go.”
Eastern Victoria Region MP Harriet Shing said the funding rollout was “a win” for Gippsland families.
“We’re making Victoria the Education State, and it begins with giving every child the best start in life. We want all Victorian kids to reap the rewards of a first-rate early years education,” Ms Shing said.
“Kindergartens do a great job of preparing kids for school. We’re giving them the facilities and resources they need.”
