A TEENAGE boy was assaulted by a group of men in an attempted robbery outside Pakenham train station last week.
A 17-year-old boy who had fallen asleep on a Pakenham train about 8.10pm on Tuesday 23 August woke up to find himself at the end of the train line.
He exited the train and made his way out onto the footpath before being preyed upon by three males. He was assaulted in the car park near the train station while attempts were made to steal his phone and laptop computer from his bag.
The teenager resisted and sustained minor injuries, a scratched nose and bruises to his body. He did not require medical treatment.
Earlier this year, the Gazette reported an incident which involved up to 15 youths using skateboards and scooters to belt an adult male to the ground at Bourke Park in broad daylight.
Shadow Attorney General John Pessuto and Bass MP Brian Paynter are currently pushing for CCTV cameras to be installed in the area in addition to lighting along the poorly lit Cook Drive path which leads to about 200 overflow car parking spaces for commuters.
Police described the offenders to be male and of African appearance. The Transit CIU were investigating the incident and urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
