MOUNTAIN Road Reserve will have a heavy-duty security gate installed after several break-ins and vandalism to the athletics club facilities over the years.
Cardinia Shire active communities manager Jim Davine said the current gate had previously been damaged by people trying to gain access to the athletics facilities at the back of the reserve. He said that in the past, mowers and other maintenance equipment had been stolen from the premises.
The security gate has been funded as part of a Community Safety Fund state grant that has distributed more than $36,600 to support six crime prevention projects across Cardinia Shire.
As part of the funding rollout Beaconsfield Neighbourhood House, Officer Recreation Reserve, Pakenham Senior Citizens Centre, Cardinia Men’s Shed, and Pakenham Football Club have each received grants to install additional lights to improve safety and deter property damage.
