Put a face to council names

RESIDENTS will have the opportunity to put a face to name of their ward candidates for the upcoming council election.
The Cardinia Ratepayers and Residents Association has invited candidates from Central, Ranges and Port wards to an informal ‘Meet The Candidates’ information session on Monday 3 October.
Association president Gloria O’Connor said it would be a good opportunity for new candidates to promote their stand for a place on council, and for interested residents to hear from and talk to their future local government representatives.
“Some people don’t know who their local councillors are, so I think this will be a good opportunity to get people thinking carefully about who they’re going to vote for and what the issues are,” Ms O’Connor said.
“I can’t remember there ever being so many candidates running for Ranges Ward, so I know I’ll personally be interested to hear what’s drawn them to run for council.”
Each candidate will have the chance to deliver a spiel before open-floor question time.
Supper, tea and coffee will be served at the conclusion of the evening, giving residents the opportunity to mingle and personally meet the candidates.
The Meet The Candidates evening runs from 7pm to 9pm on Monday 3 October at Outlook Community Centre on Toomuc Valley Road, Pakenham.
