Woman killed in crash with truck

A LONGWARRY woman has died after her van collided with a truck in Longwarry North.
Police believe the 49-year-old woman was on her way to pick up children at the nearby Labertouche Primary School when the fatal crash occurred, before 3.30pm on Tuesday 25 October.
It’s believed the woman was turning right from Sand Road onto Princes Way she collided with the westbound truck.
Her van veered into an embankment.
Paramedics treated the woman at the scene but she did not survive.
Warragul police Sergeant Mick O’Brien said it was initially feared more people were in the woman’s van.
“The first thing we thought was if there were kids in there,” he said.
The woman was the sole occupant.
A man of similar age from Warragul was sent to hospital by road ambulance for a check-up. He was uninjured.
Tradesmen working on the Princes Freeway reconstruction were first at the scene followed by CFA members.
CFA and SES members were working to remove the woman’s body at 5pm.
