CENTRELINK was evacuated after a security scare at its Pakenham office on Friday afternoon.
Police were called to the scene at about 1.15pm on Friday 28 October to attend to a suspicious parcel that had been found in the bathroom.
Dozens of customers and staff were asked to evacuate, and stood waiting a short distance from the office.
Police soon determined the incident to be a false alarm, discovering the parcel contained items of clothing.
The centre continued operation from about 1.45pm.
