Punched for overtaking 4WD

By Alana Mitchelson

A man was allegedly punched in the face while sitting in his car at a red light after overtaking a disgruntled driver of a 4WD in Pakenham.
The victim was driving west along the Princes Highway when he overtook a white four-wheel-drive about 9.45am on Sunday 15 January.
This upset the driver of the 4WD, and at the next set of traffic lights, the male driver stepped out of his vehicle and approached the driver’s seat window of the car in front of him.
Words were exchanged and the driver threatened to assault the man in the car.
The offender turned away and hit the back of the victim’s car with his hand before returning to the driver’s seat window and allegedly punching the man in the face.
The victim sustained a laceration above his right eye that required stitches.
Police have the number plate of the four-wheel-drive involved, and are investigating the incident.
Anyone who may have information about the road rage assault has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
