CFA swarms on gas leak

[ UPDATE 3.40pm ] The situation has been declared “safe” as of 3.30pm, and the CFA advises nearby residents to open windows and doors to ventilate their homes or businesses.

Emergency services were called to a hazardous gas leak in Beaconsfield on Wednesday afternoon 1 February.
Five CFA trucks rushed to the scene of a gas leak in the area of Brunt Road, Rix Road and the railway tracks in Beaconsfield, about 1.25pm.
It is understood a 150mm crack in a gas main caused the hazard.
CFA issued an alert for the Beaconsfield and Officer areas, reassuring residents that there was no threat to the community.
Those experiencing any symptoms that may be due to the gas exposure have been advised to seek medical advice or call Nurse on Call on 1300 606 024.
Anyone experiencing wheezing, chest tightness or difficulty breathing was urged to call triple-zero.
