CFA call goes out for recruits

CFA crews in Cardinia are calling out for new members to join their local CFA team.

CFA crews in Cardinia are looking for new members and have put a call out to the community to get involved and become a CFA volunteer.
Toomuc, Bayles and Officer fire brigades are recruiting now and will be holding volunteer information sessions in March for those who are interested in joining their local CFA team.
Volunteer firefighters are on call 24 hours a day to assist the community but due to work and school commitments of volunteers, the daytime responses are the hardest to maintain.
The CFA is calling on casual workers, university students, stay-at-home mums and anyone with a flexible schedule to get involved by being a daytime crew member.
While fighting fires and protecting communities is the first duty of CFA volunteers, there is also a need for a wide range of skills and services at all stations.
All volunteer training from fighting fires to station organisation is provided by the CFA so the only thing volunteers need to bring is their dedication and commitment to the CFA.
Information sessions for interested volunteers will be held at the station houses of Toomuc, Bayles and Officer where interested people can learn about what it means to be a CFA volunteer.
The information session at Bayles will be held on Tuesday 14 March at 7pm at 660 Koo Wee Rup-Longwarry Road.
A family friendly information session at Officer will be held on Sunday 19 March at 10am and again on Monday 20 March at 7pm at 19 Station Street.
Children are also welcome at the Toomuc information session on Wednesday 29 March at 10.30am or 6.30pm at the Toomuc Fire Station in Browns Road.
For more information about the information sessions, contact CFA Brigade Administration Support Officer Lisa Hicks on 0409 401 437 or Ross Mackay on 0409 071 621.
