Mad Max mania will hit Sally’s Big Ass Burgers this Saturday.
The Upper Beaconsfield burger joint is hosting a Mad Max fun day aimed at testing the toughness of the cult movie’s fans.
For one day only, Sally and her team will be flipping a special menu of burgers, including the Toe-Cutter, while clad in themed costumes.
Add to the mix about 100 Harley Davidson bikes, cars from the original trilogy, as well as a guest appearance by film documentary director Dan Peterson and you’ve got the ultimate fan event.
Sally’s known for not doing things on a small scale; her burgers are big and her personality is bigger, and Saturday is shaping up to be no different.
The local personality said the event had already attracted large interest, with people planning to drive as far as Ballarat just for a bite of a Toe Cutter.
Another enthusiast will make the trip down from Queensland for his bachelor party before getting married next weekend.
Sally said the lengths devotees would go to was insane.
“Mad Max is all the range at the moment, it’s absolutely huge,” Sally said.
Also planned for the event is a trivia competition and a movie-inspired dog food eating race, which is sure to turn some noses.
“In the second movie one of the bikies ate dog food out of a can, so I though t I’d see how tuff these Mad Max people really are,” Sally said with a laugh.
Competition winners will receive a trip to Emerald and back in one of the movie’s cars in attendance.
“No-one ever gets that opportunity … it’s amazing,” Sally said.
Sally’s Big Ass Burgers will host the Mad Max day on Saturday, from 10am to 3pm.
