There were approximately 600 export and 550 young cattle penned representing an increase of 85 head week-on-week at Pakenham’s Victorian Livestock Exchange.
Most of the usual buying group was present and operating in a mostly dearer market.
Quality was mixed with limited numbers of prime cattle and secondary and plainer lots throughout. Vealers sold generally firm with the odd dearer sale for better quality.

There was a little less competition for feeder cattle with a regular buyer of these grades absent however they were only a little cheaper on some sales.
Grown steers and bullocks improved around 10 cents for most and more on some isolated sales.
Heavy weight grown heifers and manufacturing steers gained 10 cents, vealers suited to butchers sold from 334 cents to 370 cents, yearling trade steers made between 317 cents and 346 cents, and yearling heifers to the trade sold between 300 cents and 352 cents.
