There is a new millionaire in Berwick thanks to a lucky lotto win earlier this month.
It was no case of Mondayitis for a Berwick man who made a special trip to his local Tatts outlet to check his lotto ticket.
He got more than he bargained for when he walked into the JMJ News in Clyde North on Monday 10 April to discover that he had won more than $1 million.
The man had purchased a QuickPick entry with two games of System 7 and one game of System 8 which won him a total prize of $1,005,860.35.
The winner said he wasn’t the only one who couldn’t believe his big win.
“The man at the outlet couldn’t work out at first what was happening when he scanned my ticket,” he said.
“I was in so much shock but it was really a good one!” he said.
While the excitement of the $1 million surprise will take some time to sink in, the man is very clear about where the money will be going.
“I definitely have to pay back the mortgage!” he said.
“And I’ve got to make sure my kids get a good education.”
The owners of JMJ News, Joseph and Mary Annam, were also thrilled with the win which comes just 17 months since they opened their business.
“This is beautiful,” Mr Annam said.
“We couldn’t be happier to have a new millionaire in our clientele at our new store!”
The lucky numbers that bagged the $1 million win were 15, 35, 29, 37, 6 and 10 and the supplementary numbers were 32 and 36.
