Premier Daniel Andrews has presented 12 Casey-Cardinia students with Premier Awards for excellence in their 2016 VCE subjects.
The students were presented with their awards on Thursday 27 April at a State Government ceremony at the Palladium at Crown in Southbank.
Each award recipient achieved results in the top one per cent of their subject in Victoria.
Beaconhills College students received a record five awards across four subject areas.
Pakenham Campus student, Tess Wilkens received a perfect score of 50 for English, while Nicholas Prowse also scored 50 for Systems Engineering.
All three Premier’s Awards recipients from the Berwick campus completed their VCE subject in Year 11. Holly Neale received her award for Dance – with a score of 49, while Victor Benko achieved a perfect 50 for Systems Engineering and Madison Schenk had the second-top mark in the state (49) for Extended Investigation.
Beaconhills College Headmaster Tony Sheumack congratulated students on their achievements.
“This is not just excellence in one subject, but in five very different areas of study,” he said.
Three Nosall High School students also received awards. Ashan Wimalaratne received the top all-round VCE High Achiever Award as well as a Specialist Mathematics Study Award. Mary Pham received her award for Philosophy and Jessica Lieng for Health and Human Development.
St Margaret’s School in Berwick also collected three awards, Ebony Hughes for Computing: Infomatics, Isabella Imperatore for Art and Lani Li for Biology.
Eelam Tamil Association Victoria student Madupashini Balashanmugan received an award for Tamil language.
