Year 9 St Paul’s Anglican Grammar student, Sophie Bennett, recently competed at the Tintern Horse Trials and came home a winner on all counts.
The 14-year-old from Tynong placed first in the 1 star section, which is the highest level possible for interschool eventing competition.
Sophie was also part of the composite team that won the overall team event held on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 April at Wandin Park.
The team came out on top out of 61 teams from all over Victoria competing for the Tintern Horse Trials perpetual trophy.
“I was really excited with winning the trophy as it is such an achievement,” Sophie said.
Sophie has now officially qualified for the Melbourne International 3 Day Event in June.
“It’s like a dream come true,” she said. “It will be the first time I am competing in this event as I have just become age eligible this year.”
