Pakenham’s Heritage Springs Shopping Village is undergoing a refurbishment to modernise the centre.
The three stage development, which kicked off Monday 22 May, will focus on making the centre “lighter and brighter”.
Designed by Loop Architecture, stage one, which is expected to be completed by early August, will include improved lighting, a new food court, additional seating and furniture and a design overhaul.
Stages two and three will commence in early 2018 and focus on modernising the overall site.
A name change, new branding and signage are also planned as part of the overhaul, however these details are yet to be released.
Centre Manager Charles Hunt said shoppers would experience minimal disruption with noisy, intrusive construction to be carried out between midnight and 6am when the centre was closed.
Works will be undertaken by building company Base Group.
