Getting back to the beach

The Bootleg Beach Boys are performing at Cardinia Cultural Centre on 29 June.

The iconic sounds of the Beach Boys are on their way to the Cardinia Cultural Centre.
On their first “mammoth tour”, Beach Boys tribute band Bootleg Beach Boys will hit the stage in Pakenham, performing Beach Boy classics to Australian fans.
But don’t be fooled by the group’s admittedly tongue in cheek name, the band consists of a well-seasoned line up of multi-instrumentalists and vocalists.
Joe Mullins serves as the group’s fastidious musical director and voices the sweet tones of Al Jardine and Bruce Johnson.
Damian Butler, will hit the drums and percussion, giving the band that infectious ’60s beat, while singing the parts of Dennis Wilson and Mike Love.
Mark Maguire and Joe Leech add the sweet harmonies that make the Beach Boys so instantly recognisable, and play lead guitar and bass, respectively.
Between them they capture the vocal resemblance of Al Jardine, Bruce Johnson and Mike Love, a mean feat considering the vocal range of their calibre.
Rounding out the group is Fran King who adds the high register of Brian and Carl Wilson to the combo, also playing bass and acoustic guitar.
Spectators can expect to hear all the greatest hits including Surfin’ Safari, Surfer Girl, Good Vibrations and Help Me Rhonda.
The Bootleg Beach Boys will perform at Pakenham’s Cardinia Cultural Centre on Thursday 29 June. For more details and to purchase tickets visit www.abstractentertainment.net
