Alison Leighton is Baw Baw Shire’s new CEO.
Ms Leighton will join Baw Baw Shire Council from her current position as Chief Operating Officer at Mornington Peninsula Shire, and will replace Interim CEO of five months, Phil Cantillon.
Baw Baw Shire mayor Joe Gauci said the position attracted an “outstanding” calibre of applicants, but it was clear Ms Leighton was the right person for the job.
“Ms Leighton joins us with over 15 years of progressive leadership experience in infrastructure, planning, operations, program and service delivery and business transformation,” Cr Gauci said.
“We are confident that Ms Leighton will do an outstanding job navigating the organisation efficiently and effectively through significant growth while ensuring delivery of the council’s plans and visions.”
Ms Leighton, who will commence on 21 August, said she would “seek to empower the Baw Baw Shire team to deliver outstanding service to the community in all areas of the municipality”.
The council thanked Mr Cantillon for his work over the past five months.
